Mandate

As the national voice for Canadian dental students, the FCDSA’s Advocacy committee aims to educate, elevate, and act on matters that impact Canadian dental education and population oral health.

Objectives

Our advocacy team has identified four key issues that we are currently focusing our efforts on:

1. Access to care issues in Canada

2. Equity and diverse representation in dental school systems

3. Sustainable dentistry

4. Special care and geriatric dentistry

With this guiding document and transitional actions, we hope to establish continuity, transparency, and increased execution of our tasks as the FCDSA changes and develops over time. Although these items have been identified as current issues we are addressing, our efforts will shift with time as tasks are completed and as new issues arise.

Composition

The Advocacy Committee will consist of a Board Member as Chair, and four (4) other members of the Council.

Meetings

The Committee will meet annually by teleconference.  Additional electronic meetings or conference calls may be held to be determined in consultation with the Chair and staff support.

Reporting/Accountability

The Committee will report to the FCDSA Council following its yearly meeting and as required.

Staff support is available through the FCDSA Secretariat.
