The following resolutions were adopted during the Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Canadian Dentistry Student Associations held June 18, 2016 in the Albion Room A & B, Novotel, Ottawa, Ontario.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that the minutes of the meeting of the Federation of Canadian Dentistry Student Associations held June 20, 2015 be approved.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED

that the following amendments be made to the list of organizations to be invited to the FCDSA Annual General Meeting:

•         Central Veterinary Student Association (CVSA)

Be amended to read:

•         Students of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA)

And that the phrase “In descending order of priority, the following organizations be invited…” should be amended to read “The following organizations should be invited…”

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that the Financial Statements for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2015 be accepted as presented.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that the revised activity plan for 2016 and the proposed activity for 2017 be approved as presented.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that the FCDSA 2016 Canadian NDEB Examination Survey Report be accepted and submitted to the National Dental Examining Board of Canada for consideration.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that the final report of the Dental Student Conference Working Group be accepted and that the FCDSA work towards following the recommendations contained within the report.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that a Dental Student Conference Committee (DSCC) be established consisting of Council members.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that the terms of reference be drafted for the Dental Student Conference Committee during the June 19, 2016 Council Planning Session and be presented to the meeting of the Council immediately following the session for approval.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that a Student Wellness Committee (SWC) be established consisting of Council members.  The mandate of the SWC will be to address dental students’ physical and emotional wellbeing by increasing awareness of the prevalent health problems among dental students, offering solutions on a personal level, and advocating for its improvement as a national voice.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that the proposed terms of reference for a Student Wellness Committee be approved, as amended.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that the ballots related to the 2016 Election be destroyed by the scrutineers.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that the following specific individuals be appointed to operate the account based on their election to the Executive of the Federation of Canadian Dentistry Student Associations (FCDSA):

  • Khashayar Gharavi, President
  • Ivy Lin, Vice-President         
  • Kerri-Lyn Chong, Regional councillor - Western Canada
  • Julie Delcorde, Regional councillor - Central Canada
  • Kelsey Eatmon, Regional councillor - Eastern Canada

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that the Federation of Canadian Dentistry Student Associations (FCDSA) submit to TD Canada Trust the completed document entitled “Listing of or Change to Owners, Directors and/or Officers of a Business”, and the accompanying letter of authorization listing, as required, the members of the FCDSA Council, including each individual’s title and home contact information, their status (current or new member of Council), and whether each is to be listed as just a Council member or as a Council member and official signatory. The letter of authorization shall contain the signature of each Council member.

IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND RESOLVED that, pending confirmation of sufficient funding and agreement on the event program, the 2017 Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Canadian Dentistry Student Associations (FCDSA) be held in conjunction with the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry (ACFD) in a location to be agreed upon.  Further, that the FCDSA Executive work with the ACFD to identify roles and responsibilities.
